Dr Sundeep Chohan

Dr Chohan graduated from University College, London and holds degrees in Medicine, Neuroscience and Software Engineering. He has worked in some of the UK’s most distinguished central London hospitals and established offices in London's prestigious Harley Street in 2008. He holds current registration with the UK General Medical Council (GP register), membership of the UK Royal College of General Practitioners and College of Family Physicians, Canada. We are delighted to announce the office in Harley Street has re-opened for Corporate clients.

His professional interests include:

  • Mental Health: Dr Chohan has a special interest in Primary Care Mental Health and is a Physician Psychotherapist with accreditation from the Medical Psychotherapy Association of Canada. He has trained in a range of therapies including Reconsolidation Therapy (Brunet), Prolonged Exposure therapy (Harvard), CBT (Mass General), Motivational Interviewing (Harvard) as well as other psychological modalities. He has treated military veterans, first line emergency responder and civilians with PTSD or other associated Fear & Trauma based psychological conditions. He has worked with psychologically traumatised communities from across the world including survivors of genocide and war crimes, victims of large scale disasters and mass shootings as well as former child soldiers and refugees.

  • Addiction Medicine/deprescribing: Dr Chohan has worked with patients with a variety of Behavioural and Substance Addictions. He worked for 4 years on the frontlines of the Opioid Crisis in a clinical post managing Opioid Use Disorder in the largest OAT clinic in Maritime Canada and provided addiction treatment for a variety of substances misuse including Cocaine, Crack, Meth, Dark Web Designer drugs/Novel Psychoactive Substances and Alcohol in his private practice. He has also managed patients with a history of dependency to prescribed medications including Benzodiazepines, Gabapentinoids, Opioids and Z-drugs with a view to deprescribing to safer or more appropriate treatments. He is experienced in treating behavioural addictions including gaming and gambling disorder. He is a Member of the International Society of Addiction Medicine, the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine and International Society for the Study of Emerging Drugs. He was also previously an adviser for Chronic Pain in Primary care and a mentor for the Atlantic Mentoring Network - Pain and Addiction.

  • Military Medicine: He previously worked for several years in a senior specialist role as Chief Medical Officer for Selection (UK Royal Marines, Royal Navy & Royal Air Force) for the UK’s Ministry of Defence. He then worked at the specialist Nova Scotia Operational Stress Injury for Canadian Armed Forces Veterans and RCMP dealing with complex medical conditions impacting veterans and serving RCMP. He continues as a Consultant to the unit.

  • MedTech: He holds a Masters Degree in Object Oriented Software Systems (London), with a research focus on Wireless technologies and a current advisory role to Detalytics (Singapore).After obtaining his degree from University College, London in Neuroscience with a research focus on the medical use of Trans-cranial Magnetic Stimulation, Dr Chohan retained an interest in novel and non-pharmaceutical treatments for Mental health conditions. He actively uses emerging and novel Med Tech technologies in his current clinical work with a particular interest in VR/AR Psychotherapy, biofeedback and remote bio-monitoring.

  • Remote & Hostile medicine: He holds the Diploma in Conflict & Catastrophe Medicine from the Society of Apothecaries (London, UK) as well as a Fellowship from the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (Utah, USA). He has worked and trained in many of the world’s most challenging and diverse environments from regions impacted by war or disaster, to each of the main extreme environments: Artic, Jungle, Desert and Extreme Altitude.
